Edith Essex

According to The four visitations of Berkshire, 1532, 1566, 1623, 1665-6 Edith was "da: to William Marrow of Stepney in Co: Midd: Esquire" [Harl. MS. 4108, 37b.] Chronologically this fits in with her being the daughter of William Marrow, Lord Mayor of London. It is not known if she was the daughter by his first wife Isabel or his second wife Katherine. She is not mentioned in her father's will. "William Essex of London, gentleman" was one of the overseers of William Marrow's will. Three children of William Essex are also mentioned in William Marrow's will, Thomas, Margery and Elizabeth. However, their relationship to William Marrow is not stated.
