Mr. Daniel Troyer who died Sunday September 18, 1881 (reported in my last week's letter) was born in Somerset Co. Pennsylvania on the 17th of November 1802. He came to Tuscarawas County in 1816 and was married to Anna Bontrager in 1829 who died 1834. Leaving three children among who is our neighbor and well-to-do farmer, Mr. Seth Troyer, the only one living of the first wife. In 1835 he married again to Elizabeth Yoder, who died on the 4th of June 1848, leaving eight children among who is L. D. Troyer druggist of this place; D. D. Troyer a wealthy farmer five miles from this place in Holmes County; Widow Gerber near this place; Mrs. Abraham Troyer (Leah) residing in Elkhart Co., Indiana and Barbara who remained at home and took care of the household. After remaining a widower for 23 years he married again in 1871 to the widow of Mr. J. Gerber near Strasburgh, this county. Mr. Troyer was the father of eleven children, five who went to the better land before him and six are living. Besides he left 42 grandchildren, 5 great grand children living all highly respected. May he rest in peace.
