Abraham Cable was a well-read man for his day, he could read and write German, French and English, he was a surveyor and mathematician. He had traveled far and wide among the Indians besides being familiar with the law. Abraham was listed on the 1800 Berlin, Penn. roster of citizens of the 1800 Census, as being past 45 yrs. of age. He was commissioned Justice of the Peace as the signers requested, November 23, 1771, and served that position until his death, ( His will #8 Somerset Co. 1805 ) except for his war years as he served in the Revolution under General George Washington.
