About Col Abraham Cable

A Patriot of the American Revolution for PENNSYLVANIA with the rank of LIEUTENANT COLONEL. DAR Ancestor # A018022

Abraham Cable was a well-read man for his day, he could read and write German, French and English, he was a surveyor and mathematician. He had traveled far and wide among the Indians besides being familiar with the law. Abraham was listed on the 1800 Berlin, Penn. roster of citizens of the 1800 Census, as being past 45 yrs. of age. He was commissioned Justice of the Peace as the signers requested, November 23, 1771, and served that position until his death, ( His will #8 Somerset Co. 1805 ) except for his war years as he served in the Revolution under General George Washington. (Abraham migrated from York Co. Pa. to Somerset Co. Pa. prior to the American Rev. He served as Associate Judge in 1795...History of Bedford, Somerset, and Fulton Counties 1884)
