BIOGRAPHY Charles-Louis, Prince de Merode, was born on 6 April 1948 in Bruxelles, the son of Albert, Prince de Merode, and Henriette de Vogüé.

On 8 September 1974 in Opheylissem, Charles-Louis married Clotilde, Comtesse d'Oultremont, daughter of Adrien, Comte d'Oultremont, and Marie Blanche, Comtesse du Chastel de la Howarderie. They became the parents of three sons and two daughters.

Charles-Louis has been appointed as Knight of the Golden Fleece and installed as such at the Heilige Bloedbasiliek in Brugge, Belgium, on 30 November 2011.
