Catherine was born 14 March 1686, the daughter of Adrien Quevillon and Jeanne Hunault(Gunault). When Catherine was seven, she and an approximately 12 year old sister were carried off by the Iroquois and the sister was burned to death in front of Catherine. Catherine was ransomed after several years of captivity. (The records I read did not say who ransomed her). As I was reading of this event, and also checking the records of the Quevillon family, I found that the 12 year old sister was probably Francoise-Angelique who was Born 13 March 1681. Francoise is the only child listed to Adrien & Jeanne Queillon that does not have a marriage date. I have no proof of this, only supposition. Catherine married four times and died at the age of ninety five.
Catherine gave birth to the daughter of Van Tekakwitha during early part of 1700. As soon as a treaty was signed between England and France, Van took Catherine and her baby back to her people at Point aux Trembles. The little girl was named Van Katherine Tekakwitha. Little Van Katherine grew up well versed in the doctrine of the Catholic church and she dedicated her life to God, serving as a missionary working with the Iriqouis in the village of Caughnawaga in Southern Quebec.Married July 30, 1703 to Guillaume LaCombe dit Saint AmantMarried June 16, 1704 to Samuel Papineau ("de Montigny"), they had 9 children and Samuel died April 1737Married April 3, 1742 to Jacques DanielMarried February 18, 1754 to Jean Baptiste de Verac "The Parisien"
Angerlique who was then in her 12th year. Angelique was burnedat thestake, alive, before her mother & sister's eyes & they were made to eatof hercharred flesh. She also was forced to witness the rape & adulteryimposed upon hermother by the chiefs of the group. In spite of all the turmoil & fierceordeals she hadexperienced, she lived a full life & died at a very old age, 95, on 30MAR 1781 & wasburied on 2 AUG 1781--4 months & a few days after her death in NotreDame deMontreal by Pere HADRY.
