Capt. ARTHUR BRAGDON, b. 1670 [son of Ensign Arthur and Lydia (Twisden) Bragdon], removed to Scarborough in 1728 where he was an original member of the first church. In 1742, Arthur Bragdon, gentleman, in jail, sued his creditor for beating him so that his life was despaired of. Living 5 November 1746. He m. 1st, Lydia Masterson [later corrected to SARAH Masterson], who by contemporary history was killed with their five children on 13 October 1703. By family tradition in Scarborough, he left her baking and found her and their four children scalped on his return. But a daughter Abial was carried captive, and was still living in 1711. [Capt. Arthur] m. 2nd in Hampton NH 3 November 1704, Mehitable Marston. His 2nd family, 5 ch. recorded, included Solomon, b. 18 Nov. 1709, who m. a Jordan and was attorney for the incorporated Jordan heirs...

during Penhallow's Indian Wars. Oldest daughter was reported carried away by Indians.
