Biography

Bridget KEARNEY was born circa 1828 in Roscommon, Ireland.

On 3/1/1849 at Kildare Ireland, Bridget was convicted of cow stealing and was sentenced to 7 years transportation. She arrived in Tasmania on 29/9/1849 on "Australasia"

Bridget had a relationship with {unknown} and they had the following children:

• 1852 John KEARNEY. died young

Bridget received a ticket of leave on 19/4/1853 and her certificate of freedom on 9/1/1856

Bridget married Robert WHEELDON on June 6, 1853 in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Together they had the following children:

• 1854 Thomas WHELDON;
• 1857 Margaret WHELDON;
• 1859 Robert Ambrose WHELDON;
• 1860 William Alfred WHELDON;
• 1862 Barclay WHELDON;
• 1864 Catherine WHELDON died young
• 1866 unknown born after Robert died

Her husband Robert died on 23/9/1866 and Bridget placed her children in the Queen's Orphanage, New Town not long after.

Bridget married Charles BLACKMORE on May 24, 1869 in Elizabeth Street, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Together they had the following children:

• 1868 Mary-Ann BLACKMORE.

Bridget died on February 28, 1891 in Oatlands, Tasmania, Australia.
