BRIAN MAC CAHIR KAVANAGH, of Borris and Poulmonty. He was b. ca. 1526, and was in rebellion 1572. He married Elinor, daughter of Hugh Byrne, of Rathangan, Co Wicklow, and had issue,

• 2a Edmond, of Ballyknockstaggard, Co Carlow, whose line is extinct.
• 3a Gerald, of Ballybrannagh, ancestor of KAVANAGH, of Rocksavage and Inch, and HENRY KAVANAGH, a Baron of the Kingdom of Austria.
• 4a Morish, of Ballybrack, whose line is extinct.
• 1a Elinor; married Donel Kavanagh, "Spainagh" of Clonmullen.

Brian Kavanagh died 1575, and was s by his eldest son, MORGAN KAVANAGH
