About Arthur James Wigley

Arthur James Wigley was trained under the Public Works Dept. N.Z. as a Civil Engineer (Assoc. M. Inst. C.E. March 1916) He volunteered for active service in the Great War and was awarded the Military Cross. He was subsequently loaned by the N.Z. Govt. to the Government of Palestine to assist in the settlement of that country, and was assassinated by an Arab whilst engaged in his duties (1923). He married Violet Gray and has left two sons Arthur and James (posthumous) They lived (1932) with their grandmother Mrs Anne Wigley at Opahu Lodge, Park Lane, Timaru.
