MEMORIAL PHOTOS 0 FLOWERS 1 William Hindsman was the son of (Peter) Israel Hindsman (1772-1851)& Mariah (d. 1859). He was born @ Wilkes Co., GA; his parents & siblings moved to Coweta Co., GA after 1826 & the "Cherokee Land Lottery" took place. He was among the earliest residents of Coweta Co. and was known by most as "Uncle Billy". He was married to wife #1 Nancy Cotton (1810-1855)-she was mother to five children.Married W#2 Apscilla Stroud Crenshaw 1867 (one son).
Apscilla Stroud is believed to be the d/o Isaac Stroud (b. SC) and Nancy (B. NC). She can be found with her mother, brother and young sister in the 1850 census @Coweta Co.,GA. She had previously been married to "Crenshaw" sometime prior to the 1860 census (living with John Stroud @ Coweta Co., GA). At that time she was a practicing "midwife".

Cotton, G-son, age 21, b. GA. (William's first wife, Nancy Cotton, died in 1855, and he remarried in 1867 to Apsilla Stroud Crenshaw.) (Jefferson D. Apscilla's only child son William P. Hindsman was b. Feb 1869. He was murdered by an unknown assailant May 1914 at Columbus, GA. He left behind a loving wife and 8 children. No arrest was ever made and no one was charged. He was a fine musician and active in the "Improved Order of the Red Men" fraternal society of Columbus, GA at the time of his death. He was also a member of the Masonic Order.
