About Anne Francis Isabella Brockman, Free Settler "Minstrel" 1830
The West Australian Times Perth WA Fri 28 April 1876; (part article P2):
MRS. W. L. BROCKMAN :—By the Mail which reached Perth on Wednesday last, we hear of the death near Bristol of the widow of the late W. L. Brockman Esq., late of Herne Hill in this colony.
Western Mail Thursday 4 July 1929 Pioneer Women pg. 59
Mrs. W. L. Brockman, of Herne Hill, a Miss Hamersley of Pyrton, Watlington, near Oxford, who married her husband at Gretna Green, because, directly he decided to come to Australia, her parents withdrew their consent. She brought them to their senses by setting out with her intended and getting married at the famous centre. Pursued and brought back from Gretna Green, the couple consented to be re-married in the proper manner, at the wish of her repentant parents. Mr. and Mrs. Brockman arrived here in October, 1829, with their infant son Edmund. They had in all six children three sons and three daughters. Thirteen of their great-grandsons enlisted in the great war, 12 of whom were grandsons of that infant son. Both sons and daughters married into other pioneer families, such as the Slades, Molloys, Bushells, de Burghs, Walcotts and others.
