Her obituary in 1927: Annie Slone was born February 14, 1839, and deceased February 21, 1926. She was 87 years and 7 days old. She was married to Tandy Slone and unto that union were born eleven children - three girls and eight boys. Four children preceded them in death while in infancy. Five boys are still living and two girls. Two of the boys and two girls professed a hope in the Lord and joined the old Regular Baptist church. She lay sick for two years, three months, and twenty-one days before she died, and seemed to be praying most all the time. Just a short time before she passed away she said the Lord had forgiven her for everything she had ever done. She told her oldest girl that she was ready to go and there was nothing in her way. About a week before she died she talked about her four little babies that were dead being in bed with her and would make her oldest girl see about them. My father said just a few minutes before he died that sweet Heaven was his home. There are four of us children hope to meet them again and there are three of the boys out in the wild world of sin yet, I don't know what will become of them. Written by their oldest daughter, Synthia Owens.
Her gravestone has what we would consider errors - She was a Salmons but her middle name on the stone is spelled Sammans. These were not well-educated people and they spelled words how they sounded.
