My grandmother Sarah Seamon Mix told me that her ancestors founded Schaefferstown, PA. The young couple (Anna Eva Engle Schaeffer & Alexander S.) set out from Bucks County in a wagon (Conestoga wagon?). They were headed much farther west than what is now Berks County, but when they arrived at the location where Schaefferstown now sits, the wife was so uncomfortable from the bumpy ride that she insisted they stop and settle there, and that is how Schaefferstown came to be.
