Wife of Johannes Cornelius Riegel (1674-1750) Her maiden name maybe Echirmann (LDS Ancestial File, Salt Lake City, Utah # P4CH-X1)

married abt 1700 Germany∼Anna Gerturitha was born about 1674 in the Rheinland-Pfalz region of Germany. Anna Gerturitha married Johannes Cornelius Riegel in Germany in 1698. He was a Miller by occupation. No birth records have been found for the three younger children, Daniel, Sarah, and Abraham. This may be the time when the family lived near Pfeffelbach, Germany, which is only one and a half miles from the Burg Lichtenberg Castle. The castle stands in ruin due to the many wars in this area. A reliable source believes this is the reason that many Pfeffelbach Parish Records have been destroyed. Their daughter Anna Elisabetha married Andreas Aulenbacher in this area about 1730. The Aulenbacher family lived in the Pfeffelbach area for several generations. They sailed for the United States in 1733. The younger three children, Daniel, Sarah, and Abraham are listed with them. He was also a farmer. Mormon Church microfilm #26043, pt. 1, page 76, Ranswiler, Germany. Arrived in the United States Sept 18, 1733 on "Pennsylvania Merchant" in Philadelphia, PA with wife and four children plus son-in-law married to daughter Anna Elisabetha. Upon arrival, they went immediately to their homestead on Mill Creek near present day village of Host, PA. They left Rotterdam on 24 Jun 1733 but they spent around two months journeying down the Rhine river to Rotterdam. The trip took between five and six months total travel time. Most of Johannes Cornelius family arrived on the Pennsylvania Merchant in 1733 except Matthias and Jorg Wilhelm, who came on the Adventure in 1732. All except Matthias, who settled in Bucks County, lived near their parents in Tulpehocken Township. Johannes established a mill which stayed in the family until 1817. In 1992, the farm was still standing in its original condition although about half its original size. It was built on land purchased from the Penn family.
