About Ann Lacey - Cox - Dengate, Free Settler "Earl Cornwallis" 1801
Ann was born in London in 1794 and was about 6 years old when she travelled to Australia with her mother and brothers. She arrived as a free settler on board the; Earl Cornwallis in 1801.
Ann married Nicholas Lacy at either St Johns, Parramatta or St Lukes at Liverpool in 1817. Nicholas had been born around 1777 and had arrived as a convict on board the; Tellicherry in 1806. The 1828 census describes Nicholas as a settler in the Field of Mars. Nicholas Lacy died in 1838 and was buried at St Patricks at Parramatta. Ann then married a farrier by the name of John Cox in 1840 at St Johns, Parramatta. Ann was then widowed for the second time when John died on the 12th August, 1850 aged 35. He was buried with the Mobbs family at St Johns Parramatta. Three years after the death of her second husband, Ann remarried for a third time to John Dengate. The marriage took place in 1853. Ann died on the 21st of August 1867 aged 73. There were no children born to any of the marriages.
