Ann Ransom was the daughter of Peter Ra
Ann Ransom was the daughter of Peter Ransom and Dorothy Horth, all families who were early settlers on Ware Point in Gloucester County, Virginia. She was born about 1710 and married John Boswell about 1728. After John died, she remained in Spotsylvania County with her six small children. However the widow Bowell was just over thirty years old and possessed a reasonable attractive estate. About 1721, she married William Gatewood at Spotsylvania. To tha union were born three children; Austin, Ambrose and William J. By colonial law, Gatewood had control of Ann's finances but not of her Boswell children's. Gatewood remained in Spotsylvania County after 1763. Sometime after the Boswell children had grown, the Boswell estate had been divided, and John's sons gad sold their shares, Ann and William Gatwell and the children moved to Amerherst County, Virginia.

Maiden name: Ransom Marriage #1: John Winfrey Boswell II , 1728 until his death in 1741. Marriage #2: William Gatewood , 1742 until her death in 1778.
