Andrew Carney (1794–1864) was an Irish immigrant who settled in Boston.

  • Known as an entrepreneur and philanthropist.
  • Partnered with Jacob Sleeper to form Carney & Sleeper, Clothiers.
  • Assisted in founding First National Bank of Boston and the John Hancock Insurance Company.
  • Founded St. Vincent Home for Girls.
  • Worked with Boston's Jesuit leaders, and helped finance the Church of the Immaculate Conception and Boston College.
  • Established New England's first Catholic hospital, Carney Hospital, in 1863.
