1) John Dexter, son of Rev. Gregory Dexter, was born November 6, 1652, at Providence, Rhode Island, and married, February 16, 1688, Alice, born in 1665, daughter of John and Sarah (Whipple) Smith.
He [John] died April 23, 1706. His widow [Alice] remarried, marrying in 1727, Hon. Joseph Jenckes, Governor of Rhode Island, She died February 19, 1736.
