About Alice Engelfield
Alice Rossall was a sister and co-heir of Sir John Rossall (who died heirless in 1403). She had for her portion Up Rossall, or "The Isle" proper, namely that portion of Rossall almost completely enclosed by a winding loop of the Severn River just north of Shrewsbury. She married an Englefield (sources differ as to exactly which one) and brought Up Rossall into that family until Sir Francis Englefield fled the country and had his estates confiscated by the Crown. (Humphrey Sandford, of a well-connected family that had hitherto been tenants, then had the opportunity to buy Up Rossall outright, and did so.)
The consensus, such as there is, is that she married Philip Englefield II
