The surname is McAlexander in John Armstrong 'The pedigree of the family of Armstrong' (version continued by the Rev. W. A. Armstrong, 1813), and in the version compiled by Liz Yeats (National Library of Ireland Ms. 5216). It is Alexander in 'Registered Pedigrees' (National Library of Ireland GO MS 171), and in James Lewis Armstrong, 'Chronicles of the Armstrongs' (Jamaica, N.Y.: Marion P., 1902). p. 321.
