Alexander Rodgers

Alexander Rodgers is #470 on the 1907 Wooster Roll. His traditional name is reported as "Pishigonebik" meaning "Monster". His Wooster Roll number is #470. "Pishigonebik" is not a common name so requires careful inspection and comment by those with expertise in the Anishinaabemowin language and Potawatomi culture to determine whether Alexander Rodgers was an awkward or violent man since the beginning of this traditional name is reminiscent of "nin Pisikan" meaning "I hit it but not purposely" (Baraga 1880:358). If such a name were revealed at Alexander's birth rather than later in life it may indicate the difficulty his mother had with her pregnancy.

The Wooster Roll reports that as of 1907 Alexander Rodgers, then age 55, was a resident of Sarnia (Township), Ontario.
