About Alexander Thompson Patterson
Alexander Thompson Patterson volunteered and enlisted, June 6, 1846 at Athens Tenn., in CaptainLowery's Company H 2nd Tenn. Inf. to fight in the Mexican War. He served in Mexico until the close of the war and then returned to Tennessee and, whith his family, started to move to Texas. They decided to remain in Little Rock, Arkansas, during the winter of 1850-51. During that winter Alexander Thompson Patterson, his wife, Leah Door Duff, and several children died leaving his daughter, Flora and a younger son, Cornelius, to finish the journey to their new home with friends.
