Soldier Ah-ne-ya-we-skee Sixkiller was born in 1830 in Georgia, United States, son of U-li-s-ka-s-di Sixkiller ( - 1856) and Gu-Er-Tsa (Smith) Sixkiller (~1786 - ~1837).

Soldier3 Sixkiller, (/Sixkiller/2 , /Oo-ka-wor-dar/1) b. 1830, d. 16 Nov 1895 in Goingsnake District, I. T., buried in Sixkiller Cemetery, Goingsnake District, Cherokee Nation. Cherokee name was Ah-ne-ya-we-skee Ah-nee-skee.

    Ool-skah-nee (Oppossum) was an orphan boy raised by Soldier.  He married Nancy Dry (Chi-youk).

    Lucy (Duncan) was a girl that Soldier raised, (see Lucy Duncan, daughter of John T. Duncan and Alie Keath).

    Soldier was elected Councilor from GoingSnake District in 1871 & 1873.

    Information from Johnnie J. Sixkiller mentions that Soldier & Katie were married by Indian custom in 1837.  If this is accurate, both Soldier & Katie must have been born about 1822 or earlier.

• Soldier's son Abraham listed the following siblings in his Eastern Cherokee testimony: Joseph (apparently died very young), Matthew (died at age 4), William (died age 10), Ellen, Samson, Joshua, Charlotte, and Betsy, so 9 in all. It looks like all except Abraham died before the Dawes.
• Abraham also listed children that Soldier raised who weren't his - a niece Vianna, a girl named Lucy, and a boy named Ool-skaw-nee

Soldier Sixkiller was the son of Sixkiller & Gu-er-tsa Smith. He traveled the Trail of Tears as a child. He served in the Civil War as a corporal in 3rd Indian Home Guard. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the Union Army. Soldier served as a councilor in the Cherokee legislature. He was elected twice, 1871 and 1873, from the Goingsnake District. He was known by locals as one of the largest hog producers in the area. Soldier was also a member of Baptist Mission and served as the church's care taker for many years.
