Adalbert Nikolaus Fuchs , also Adalbert Fuchs (* 5. June 1814 on the Wieden in Vienna; † January 7, 1886 in Kritzendorf ) was an Austrian agronomist. He was a professor of agriculture at Imperial Polytechnic Institute (now University ) in Vienna , 1869/70 whose rector. He has been appointed to Dr. med. Et phil. doctorate and was father of ophthalmologist Ernst Fuchs .

Life Was only 15 when he passed the Matura at Vienna Schottengymnasium with distinction. During his study of medicine, he fell ill, was taken to Galicia by a friend on his estate, and began to be interested in agriculture. In 1839 he received his doctorate from the University of Vienna in Medicine, 1843 ibid in philosophy.

In 1844 he was appointed as Professor of Natural History and agricultural economics at the philosophical educational institution in Tarnów in 1849 to the University of Innsbruck . In 1850 he became professor for agriculture at the Polytechnic in Vienna. In this function, he soon became a student of the University of Vienna. For the academic year 1869/70, he was elected Rector of the Polytechnic Institute. In 1884 he retired as "kk Hofrath".

From 1855 until his death he was a permanent secretary of the "kk Landwirtschaftsgesellschaft" in Vienna. He organized numerous exhibitions, including those at the World Exhibition in 1873.
