Biography

Abraham Henry Field, I was born in December of 1635, in Culpeper County, Virginia, Colonial America. His parents were Henry Field and Alice Field (Ellis).

Abraham married Elizabeth Mary Field (Newman) on December 19, 1649 Westmoreland County, Virginia, Colonial America. Together they had the following children:

• Margaret Hart;
• Daniel Field, of Westmoreland, VA;
• Abraham Field, II;
• John Field.

Abraham married Mary Gallant between April 29, 1670, and July 20, 1670, in Culpeper County, Virginia, Colonial America. Together they had the following children:

• Eleanor Field.

He died on August 26, 1674, in Westmoreland County, Virginia, Colonial America from Rootsweb world connect ID I386 most probably the person on Find A Grave Memorial# 155649192 .

Notes for Abraham Field:

There are several traditions about Abraham Field (1636-1674). [One} deals with the identity of his first wife. Many secondary sources state that he married Mary Ironmonger, the daughter of William Ironmonger and Elizabeth Jones. The evidence for this marriage is suspect and many researchers do not think Abraham ever married a Mary Ironmonger. Abraham's second wife, Mary Spence, survived him and was the executrix of his will. Mary later married Corderoy Ironmonger and was referred to in court documents as "Mary Ironmonger, relict of Abraham Field." An early researcher may have made a mistake that has been perpetuated. A reference to an Ellis Field has been found in the Westmoreland County, Virginia court records. Some researchers believe this Ellis to be Abraham Field's first wife.

"I don't think that Abraham Field and Mary Ironmonger had children because she died in 1674 in Westmoreland Co., VA - All of Abraham's children, but the last one was by his first wife."
