About Abraham Compton
Served in the Continental Army as a private, d. 1779 VA--killed in Revolutionary War, m. Mary Carhart. His genealogy also continues on and parallels this one into Southwest Virginia, principally Russell and Scott Counties. Mary remarried John Brickey after Abraham's death (Blalock). John Compton Brickey (a son?) is reportedly the author of an authoritative Compton genealogy.
