About Abigail Shays

Daughter of Josiah Gilbert and Abigail Olds.

Abigail married Daniel Shays on 18 Jul 1772 at Brookline, Massachusetts. According to tradition they were married in the kitchen of Daniel Gilbert's house in North Brookfield. Daniel Gilbert was not related to Abigail.

Their first child of eight was born in 1773. Abigail and Daniel Shays moved to western New York in 1795.

After Abigail's death her husband married an innkeeper, Rhoda (Coller) Havens (widow of Darling Havens) of Sparta, NY.
