Abigail and Elizabeth Rood are the daughers of Samuel Rood and Mary Mariner. I don't have any further references for your Abigail Rood and Elkenney Alexander MacKay other than: They are both listed in DESCENDANTS OF THOMAS ROOD (RUID/ROODE/RUDE) IN AMERICA AND ALLIED FAMILIES, by John James Plunkett, 1992, page 8. He is listed with the last name spelling of MacKay, rather than the McKay > spelling you note in your eMail. I do not know which is correct, and in fact, both may be ..... Their marriage date in this book, on page 8, is listed as 10 February 1726. Her birth date in this book, on page 8, is listed as 30 March 1705, Norwich, Connecticut.

Elkenny McKay was bom in Edinborough, Scotland, date unknown. He emigrated to America some time about the year 1725. Nothing is now known of his wife. He settled in Lenox, Massachusetts. The following records are concerning his descendants and some of their branches.

His children consisted of one son and seven daughters, and are as follows:

1. Alexander McKay, born Febraury 22, 1732; died at Skaneateles, N. Y.
2. Bashabel, birth date unknown; married a Mr. Churchell.
3. Abigal, birth date unknown; married a Mr. Rich.
4. Isabel, married Daniel Owen; married second to Bazaleel Gurney.
5. Elizabeth, married Ethan Stone of Mayfield, N. Y.
6. Mary, married Mr. Davidson of Boston, N. Y.
7. Mahitabel, married to a man by the name of Thorp.
8. Tamar, married to a man by the name of Buck.

The above is all that is now known of the family of Elkenney McKay, except that of his son, Alexander, a record of whose family and descendants and branches, so far as they have been gathered, will appear in the following pages.
