Her marriage to Edward Johnson is not recorded in Woburn VR.

Notes

There has been some confusion regarding Abigail Gardner's name and parents. I hope to help clarify. This record is for Abigail Gardner who married James Thompson 13 Apr 1687 in Woburn, Middlesex, MA. They had three known children together between 1688 and 1691 including Richard, Abigail, and Simon. Her husband James Thompson died in 1693 and in Jan 1705 she married a second time to Edward Johnson. They had two known children together. First Elizabeth Johnson born 1705 and second Joseph Johnson born 1706/8. This Abigail died 3 Sept 1725 in MA.

Her parents are not Richard Gardner 1619-1698 • LJKG-HN1 and Anna Rolfe 1626-1678 • LZ2K-MQ2. It is important to note Richard and Anna did have a daughter named Abigail Gardner born 1665 in Charleston, Suffolk, MA. This is not this Abigail. They also had a daughter named Esther born 12 Oct 1659 who died 27 Dec 1706 in Woburn, MA. Esther Gardner married William Johnson (1652-1727) about 1686 in Woburn, Middlesex, MA. Esther is also not this Abigail Gardner. ​ Sources which list her parents:

North America Family Histories, 1500-2000, page 8 shows Capt. Edward Johnson married second, Abigail (Gardner) Thompson, widow of James Thompson and daughter of Richard and Anna (Blanchard) Gardner.

Savage, shows Abigail is the daughter of Richard and Ann/Hannah (Blanchard) Gardner.

Source 3 above lists her parents as Richard Gardner and Sarah Shattuck.

More research is needed to confirm her parents.
