Aase Salmundsdotter, Selvik

Ase was from farm Herset in Trogstad, Ostfold.

Åsa was a widow from Selvik in Sande in Vestfold. She was very rich and in her will of 1396 she gave large donations to churches and monasteries. She chose her burial in Gråbrødre monastery in Tønsberg where her second husband, Rane, was buried, and gave the convent 30 mark. She gave a farm to the cathedral in Oslo and Hovedøya Abbey, half to each, so that she and her husband would be remembered by a day on which there would be candles, ringing and alms to the poor. Two churches received 10 aurabol and a church 2 1/2 aurabol so that there would be an annual mass for her first husband and his parents. Hoff church got 7 aurabol to [memorialize?] herself and her son Eivind. A church got 10 aurabol to [memorialize?] her and her father. (An aura was 27 grams of silver.)[3]
