Aaron died in 1695, and at this time some of his family decided to go to South Carolina, including his wife, Joanna. The injustice of witchcraft at Salem Village may not have been the only reason that his relatives wanted to leave there, but this seems to have been a contributing factor. They received their letters from the church after the termination of the witchcraft proceedings. The church records under the date of October 11, 1696 report the dismissal of William and his family.

"The dimission of our Breathern and Sisters, William Way and Persis his wife, together with their children to ye Church of Christ lately gathered in Dorchester in New England, and now planted in South Carolina, whereof the Reverend Mr. Joseph Lord is pastor, was consented to by a full and unanimouse vote at ye motion and disire of ye Brethern and Sisters: and accordingly letters Dismissive were written, 17 instant."

The family decided to leave the Bay Colony and migrated to South Carolina after receiving a land grant from the governor. The Way family arrived in South Carolina around 1700, and the family is still resides in South Carolina.

Other members of the family founded the town of Midway, in Georgia, there is a large burial ground and a museum that records the activities of the Way family.

Will of Aaron Way of Rumney Marsh dated 25 August probate 26 Sep 1695 mentioned wife (not named) to have his moveable estate, children Mary and Susanna who he favors with use of the garden and orchard, then the other children Moses who should he outlive his mother he shall have the land and buildings, Moses is to pay sons Aaron and William. Daughter Joanna or heir children to have five pounds. Exes. his wife and the three sons. He named his brothers George and lncrease Sumner and cousin Wm. Ireland Erland-17 overseers. Wits. John Smith, Paul Maverick and Thomas Cheever. Suffolk, Massachusetts, Wills and Probate Records, 1635-1991[5][6]

Henry Way arrived from Bristol in company with Roger Williams, February 8, 1631,

in the Lyon, Capt. Pierce. He lost a son overboard on the passage.

Was named with the first recorded grantees of land in Dorchester, 1633.

His three sons bom in England, George, Richard and Aaron, lived in Dorchester.

By the church record it appears he lived where "Capt. Breck's cyder mills" afterwards stood.

He died in 1667, aged 84 years. His wife Elizabeth died 23 (4) 1665, aged 84.

17th Century American Immigration | Mary and John sailed March 20 1630.

Aaron Way migrated to New England during the Puritan Great Migration (1620-1640).

Aaron married Joanna Sumner and they had 9 children.

Joanna was born about 1630 in Bicester, Oxfordshire, England by some sources;

in Dorchester, Massachusetts by other sources, the daughter of William Sumner and Mary West.

Aaron and Joanna both came with their parents from England to Massachusetts,

Aaron in 1630 and Joanna as early as 1637.

Aaron was about 17 years older than Joanna.

Some time after they were married they moved with their family to Salem Village, Massachusetts.

They were in Salem Village at the time the teen-age girls were 'witching',

but managed to keep their heads.
