В начале 1944 года у села Александровка Семен Зеленский вместе с сослуживцами уничтожил до 15 немецких солдат и офицеров. Кроме того, в документах говорится, что Зеленский, увидев подбитого танкиста, приказал другому бойцу занять танк и оттуда вести огонь из пулемета по атакующей пехоте противника.

"Товарищ Зеленский Семен Иванович в боях с 23 января по 9 февраля 44 года своим минометным взводом подавил огонь минбатареи, двух станковых пулеметов и трех ручных пулеметов... 1 февраля за селом Александровка... уничтожил до 15 немецких солдат и офицеров.... Отбил 4 атаки и занял трофейный склад", - сказано в документе. Войну Семен Зеленский закончил в звании гвардии лейтенанта.
