This is interesting. Was it once possible for non-pro users? And if it was, this seems to be another case of Geni trying to squeeze money out of people -- signing them up as free members, then making them pay money for things they used to get free.
I was a pro user for one year. Most of my use of the pro features occurred in the first two or three weeks of that year. It was not worth it to me to pay nearly $50 to renew for another year -- that's a LOT to many people! And to join for the occasional situation where I might want to do something that is only for pro users is not feasible -- it's $13 for one month -- almost FIVE times the monthly rate on a two-year subscription, or more than THREE times the monthly rate on a one-year subscription. The pricing is prohibitive.
Bookmarking is a feature in your browser. When you have a profile open in your browser you can bookmark it, like clicking on the empty star to the left of the URL field in Chrome.
Editing connections are done in the Relationships tab under edit profile. It takes some time before the options pop up. Just checkmark the connection you want to cut and click [Remove]. Please note that the Save buttons does not execute the connections edit, only [Remove] does.
If the field goes red when selection a connection you are not allowed and have to ask a curator to help you.
Bjørn, you said, "the simple solution is of course starting a new tree with another email account." I did that, the first time. But I had to pretend to be a dead cousin, and that name was associated with the e-mail account, and I could not then close that account in the name of the dead cousin without the whole tree going away.
