I have recently begun researching the White family for my son. His father's family. I have found the accepted wives for Peter Smith White (the father of Nelson) appear to be Sara Underhill and Sara Sifford; however, the 1860 census for Stoddard Co, MO shows Peter (listed as Peter While), with his wife "Mary Ann". She also appears to be the mother of Clarinda, Nathaniel, Margaret, James Washington, Milton J., Nelson, and William Wesley. The 1870 census shows Peter married to Sara along with additional child Henry, and the Underhill children indicating that Underhill was a married name. (Sara is indeed listed on the 1860 census as married to William Underhill). 1880 census for Union, Jackson Co, AR shows Peter, Sara, most of the children previously mentioned and the addition of Peter Jr., Simeon, and Eddie. Rather rambling but I think I hit most of the highlights.

Your post is over a year old so perhaps you've dropped the WHITE family research. Don't know how I missed it last year.
I am a descendent of William Presley WHITE from Leonard, Fannin Co. TX previously of Stoddard Co. MO. He was a nephew of your subject, Peter Smith WHITE.
It has been over 20 years since I researched the WHITE line but my family group sheet shows Peter Smith WHITE's first wife as Mary Ann BRATCHER. Not sure of my source. May have been Lila LAPIER or Homer Houston WHITE from Lamar Co. TX. I have the second wife as Sarah UNDERHILL. I also have a few FGS's on the children of Peter Smith WHITE but would love to add your information to them.
Then I have the WHITE children of Peter & Sarah. I did have her as a widow and I have her UNDERHILL children as Louise E., Margaret J., Lucinda and Sarah Francis.
However...the Arkansas info is new to me. My notes indicate Peter Smith WHITE "may" have died in Lamar Co. TX
on 13 May 1911 and that he is buried in the Sylvan Cemetery with no marker. Can you verify or condradict? I also show him as CSA with a ?. Do you have any Confederate record for him?
There is a great Bible record or Family Page on the Uriah WHITE family in Blossum, TX! It was in the possession of a son of Homer Houston WHITE I think. I got the information via telephone after missing the family on a trip to Blossum.
I got stuck getting any futher back than Uriah WHITE who married Hannah GALLION but, to my knowledge, I was the genealogist who discovered that Uriah died in a Union Prison in Alton, IL during the Civil War. He was captured in Stoddard County probably for aiding and abetting the enemy. Stoddard Co. was pretty well split down the middle in loyalties.
I've researched in Lamar Co., Grayson Co. Fannin Co. Titus Co. Stoddard Co. MO, Dunkln Co. MO and Lincoln Co. TN in search of this WHITE line but just never could get back to finding Uriah in Pendleton Dist. SC from which he was suppose to have come.
What's the current status of your search?
