here a link that tells yo that the name started in the 14th century in Germany with the name Wtenbogaert and in the family lines you see al kinds of variants like Bogaert, Bogaard, Bogert, van de Boogaard etc. Wtenbogaert or Uytenbogaert is a welknown Remonstrant name in Holland from the early 17th century. I think that the Bogaarts who went to new Amsterdam al are connected to the Wtenbogaert of the 14th century in Germany.

So maybe this link can give some information to the now in America living descendants.
