I grew up in eastern Ontario, and have lots of United Empire Loyalist roots on both maternal and paternal sides (mainly English and German), as well as some French Canadian roots.
My 3rd great grandmother was Marie Magdeleine Levesque born in St Roch de L'achigan, Quebec, with roots all the way back to early 1600s in France, but likely lots of aboriginal "twigs" in there as well, early French settlers were primarily male, and, well.... those Indian gals sure were "les filles très belles"!
