Do you know your mother's date of birth? Do you know your grandparents' dates of birth? Does your mother have any siblings? Are your maternal grandparents still alive - if so, get as much family data from them as you both can stand in one go-round, then go back for more after digesting that; if they are deceased - do you have the dates? (please note: I am not asking you to put all that data out here, in Public Discussion - just saying accumulating as much as possible of this data allows for accumulating the next round of info).
Were any of these folks alive in 1930 or before? If so, they will probably appear on one or more of the US Census - currently 1930 is the latest publicly available. Many free and pay sources for such info.
