My grandfather was Francisco Vieira deMello (3/18/1859 - 7/26/1947) from the village of Lajes, Pico, Azores, Portugal. He dropped the de upon immigration. I will put his information on the chart.
The story is that his father came to the states first, working in the gold fields of California. He sent for his 3 sons to join him. One stayed in California (my grandfather) and the other two went back East. I have no knowledge of their names.
Francisco married Catarina Xavier (10/28/1857 - 8/16/1930) of Silveira, Pico, Azores, Portugal. I have some information on her which I will also put on the chart.
