The 1900 US Census shows Louis (looks like Louina) Bennett, a son born March 1886 to Robert W and Susan L Bennett Sr, was age 14.
Then the 1910 US Census shows (below)....
QUESTION: Do you agree that the baby, Louis Bennett, could be Louis Bennett, Jr OR could it be Leora Bennett's baby OR another? Where should we add (at this time a baby) Louis Bennett to the family tree shown in 1910 below?
Name: Robert W Bennett (This appears to be Sr still listed, even though he has died around 1900)
Birthplace: Georgia
Relationship to Head of Household: Son (Robert W Bennett Jr, even though a stepfather was present, Edward R Eady)
Residence: Savannah Ward 2, Chatham, Georgia
Marital Status: Single (Robert W Bennett, Jr)
Race : White
Gender: Male
Immigration Year:
Father's Birthplace: Maryland (this would be for Robert W Bennett Jr's stepfather)
Mother's Birthplace: Maryland (this would be for his mother's birthplace (Susan L). Would be interesting to know the story behind their marriage after Robert W Bennett Sr's death. As it may appear that they knew each other in Maryland and then maybe sometime later both were living in Georgia)
Family Number: 263
Page Number: 12
Household Gender Age
Parent Edward R Eady M 66y (Stepfather to Robert W Bennett Jr)
Parent Susan L Eady F 48y (Mother to Robert W Bennett Jr)
Robert E Bennett M 27y (Husband to Leora which is misspelled, Lena)
Lena R Bennett F 19y (Wife to Robert E Bennett which correctly spelled is Leora)
Robert W Bennett M 24y (this would be Jr)
Louis Bennett M 1y 8m (now here's the "wildcard", the 1900 US Census shows an older Louis Bennett who would now be age 24, so this baby could be his, as Louis Bennett, Jr. However, he is not shown as part of the household OR could it be Leora's baby at 17?)
But, where did the Louis ( louina) bennett from the 1900 census go?
I cannot find any thing else on this person!! death, marriage, nothing....
The louis baby I think....is most likely the infant of Robert W Jr. ......wife not there....(????)...maybe named for possibly dead uncle Louis???? This is a mystery!
Let the records show in this line of discussion:
'''6-7-2011 Suggested Solution from Jenene Cannon:'''
Robert W Bennett's age information should be reversed with Louis Bennett because Robert E & Louis were brothers according to the 1900 US Census Record. Robert E & Robert W would not be brothers. (Also, it seems very unlikely that 2 brothers have nearly same name.) This fits into timelines. Such an error could have been easily made to switch age info by mistake because lines were so small and close together. So Robert W Bennett (Jr) M 1y 8m, and Louis Bennett M 24y
Note: There are 2 Robert W Bennett's but not in subsequent generations (generation skipped), so there is not a Sr or Jr.
We have not found further info on Louis Bennett at this time. (could be because of death but unverified)
