Then you can avoid those long lists, like Estonian, that are of less importance for other than Estonian users when we are trying to find a 'spelt in een hooiberg'.

I just found one for Spanish, so please add to 'the grapevine':

And I made one for Portuguese -with a joke in the name- that whas vanished by mister Victor Mas, who also didn't like my initiative to make an AUSTRALIAN coffee corner. But the last one I have rebuild already, for Dutch are used to lots of wind and rain to bike against and destroying there shields.....

sorry for my bad english, but I'm born out of a Rotterdamsche mother & a Twentsche father, so I learned to speak dialects.

I forgot the French one I started myself, but some man from New York thought it wiser to kick me out. So now I can't drink a French coffe any longer with my French-speaking famiiy & geni-friends, so I'm looking for a Wallonian shop or maybe I have to move to LUXEMBOURG..... Luckily we SKYPE a lot with each other.

You do get around jMu. I joined several but I am likely to sit on the sidelines and watch since I am super rusty in German, uneducated and fluent in Spanish, and only read French :) I think they are more gathering places for those who are native or near native although those of us who do multi-century, multi-cultural, and multi-lingual research can contribute and/or benefit from the portals even where we aren't fluent or native.

IT'S always one who has to start and I'm very happy with every follower who likes to be admitted as a 'medewerker'. I'm not in a hurry, but when you have got the guts, its a queston not IF you do it, but WHEN..... So why not NOW, now I got some time in between other busy publishing things to come?

for a writer-/-publisher-/-communication-coach with several languages in her basis education and a university degree in science, it's no problem to work somewhat earlier or faster, as long as you get support. And you -Hatte- just gave me the support I needed with your comment: 'I love the idea of a portal for every language e/o country. Thank you so much for that contribution! I like geni for the possibility it offers for people to find relatives in every race, color, length, religion, history, experience, language, etcetera and it gives me the feedback that it make it worthwile.

Some time has passed since this thread was last commented in and I thought we were trying to have portals for all or at least most countries however I have just been asked information about Ronnie Scott the Jazz musician and find that I had not had much success in creating his tree because his father was Russian so to try to answer the query I thought I'd go to the Russian Portal but I can't find one!

I meant to mention that the top two project links under Russia in this umbrella project lead nowhere.
