But they DO plan to support at least three additional calendars as their next step in supporting internationalization / localization. With the little that I know of their time-table, this could be anything between 6-12 months.

I would be happy to send you my 6000 line lookup table, and my REXX routines HEBDATE (cvt goyish to Jewish) and GOYDATE (cvt the other way). But you probably have your own routines...

BTW, I have played with Geni in Hebrew and IIRC things came out backwards (particularly in tree view). Is this a known problem, or is it just me? (disclaimer: linux+firefox)

two things:
1) I don't actually have any routines of my own. When I need to I use JewishGen's awesome JOS Calendar Conversion:

2) I think your comment assumes that we Curators actually work at / FOR Geni. We don't. All 80+ of us are volunteers. See: http://wiki.geni.com/index.php/Curators

I have never had any issues with seeing the Hebrew tree backwards. Check out the tree of my very favorite profile, Adam of Eden. There IS a known issue with PRINTING a Hebrew (or Arabic) tree. This can be resolved by changing your tree Preferences (at the bottom of the tree view), under Names, you should see on the bottom-right: "Reverse RTL names". Check that option.
