I have like 50 documents I downloaded from Ancestry during the free weekend. I haven't checked to see if any of them fit into mine or my husband's family, but I figure I will start adding them here in case anyone can place them in their own family. Hope it helps someone!

By the way, they're all for the surname Saunders/Sanders.

Are any of them from Washington County, Georgia?

I can't remember off the top of my head. I hope to get them all uploaded in the next couple of days though.

Ok, Brit, I'm looking forward to this.

I uploaded all I have. A lot of the Saunders files say "see ___, Sanders." I did not have a chance to save all of them though before the end of the "Free Access Weekend." Still, hopefully they can help someone!

Brittany, one of the main cities in Washington County, Georgia, is named Sandersville. originally it was Saunders Corner, then Saundersville.

Interesting. Any clue how the name originated? Or if it was named after anyone in particular?

A gentleman that was an early settler of the area. He had a general store at that intersection, Saunders Corner.

Very cool. I don't have much info thus far on my husband's line of Saunders, but it would be interesting if they are connected to Saundersville. Thanks for the information!

The city's original name was Saundersville, for Mr. M. Saunders, a local storeowner. The settlement was located at an intersection of Indian trails, and later the site of Saunder's general store. In 1796, the town was made the county seat of Washington County. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandersville,_Georgia Sandersville, Georgia]
