There is no documentary evidence for this connection.
See, Paula Perkins Mortenson, English Origins of Six Early Colonists named Perkins,
http://www.perkins-family.org/book/perkins-toc.shtml for reference to the only known documentary mention of Edward Perkins' possible ancestry. He may be half-brother of Capt/Rev William Perkins of Massachusetts, and the son of William Perkins of London, a Merchant Taylor.
Whoa, we've got three fathers and three mothers going on there...I'm not familiar with that line off-hand but will poke around for you.
It looks like his ancestry is simply not known at this time, so my gut instinct is that he should be split from all of those potential parents. But I'll see what I can dig up.
J. Ashley:
That is correct. No definitive evidence of his ancestry at this time. Look at the Perkins DNA study, http://www.ftdna.com/public/Parkins-Perkins/ Descendants of Edward have all tested in haplogroup R1a1, those of most other New England Perkins are in haplogroups I or R1b.
Also get the 1913 issues of The Connecticut Magazine for three articles, one on a lost Perkins Diary, one on descendants of Edward Perkins by Donald Line Jacobus, and one on Rev William Perkins.

I've now "orphaned" Edward Perkins, of New Haven, made him a Master Profile, and a curator note that his parents are not known.
How are the wife & children? Can you check them for accuracy as well?
See my web site for the wife and children. They are documented in New Haven records and the sons are in deeds from Edward to them before his death. The daughter is not found in the records except for her birth. Elizabeth Butcher's parents are also unknown.

Very nice site Stiofan, you are researching some names I am also looking into. My Howtons married into the Creekmore's / Creekmur's several times over, I believe, as an example. So I'm going to look into this in more detail.
Particularly interested in Melungeon and other triracial isolate groupings, in fact we have a Melungeon project open here:

As far as I know, there is no contemporary evidence of Peter Morley's parentage or ancestry. He appears in the records with his brother who uses the surname Morley. Again, no known evidence that this should be Morlaix. That is just the way it was written in the Visitation record which used Latin, Norman-French, and English, all mixed together.
