A single thread for the listing of Italian immigrants that came to the USA and were either mobsters at that point or turned after arriving.

To most Italian families do no like the Mafia affiliation. It is something they highly frown upon. Regardless, the Italian Mafia (mob) is a part of Italian history be it America, Italia, or anywhere else in the world.

Sarah, check out my Gangs of New York project.

I saw that and will be looking at it again soon... that and the other Mafia one. I know people like to post stuff on this so I thought I would add it just in case someone has a family member or something that they want to add.

I have an 12-year-old Yahoo group with much more info, and will be transferring info over to Geni.

That stuff takes so much time... I can't wait to see it!

Like Geni's motto..."we are ALL related"....good or bad.

Sarah, its so organized already. Alot of the "mobsters" started out as street gang members or foot-soldiers for the mob, from Al Capone to John Gotti..

Honestly, not sure why anybody would care to post information in a discussion thread rather than in the profile or within a project? Isn't that redundant?

Ms. K. Anderson: Sorry, this threat is family related, not general. So no, it isn't redundant.

Kenneth: Can't wait to see what you have! I have been researching the Mob/Mafia for over a decade. I also follow all current Mafia issues.

Hi Sarah, must be a "Freudian slip", I think you mean this discussion "thread", no?

When looking for new information, the wider net you throw, the more likely you will be successful. But, Ms. K's point is also well taken, so you might try and add a request for information both within your Italian Heritage project, and on your home page, under the "news announcements".

Sarah, do you want me to add the info to the Italian families project, or will you start a subproject?

4/18/2011 at 9:49 AM

Yes, unfortunately you cannot edit threads -- only delete them (so I could not correct the spelling on my last post). I figured people were already adding the information to the "general" mob/mafia tree's and projects. If they wanted to add to a specific thread that was not general but instead showed who they were related to... it's more of a comment or discussion started as apposed to the general threads I have been seeing. Either way, interaction is the aim.

I think I realized that this thread was public... and that is why it's getting noticed so much! Sorry.

Sarah, don't apologize. There is rich history in this topic.

Thank you, Kenneth. :)

My Gangs of New York project has received tons of compliments and positive suggestions already.
