How would I go about having a free record search done regarding Colonel William "Ali" Hunter, CSA, and his contribution to the Civil War?

Just go to Ancestry.com and at the bottom they have a notice about the free access weekend. You can click that and it will lead you to a search screen. (If it isn't there, just try refreshing and it should pop up.) When you reach the search screen, type his name and any information you may know about where he served. It will give you a list of related documents and information. All of the documents under "American Civil War soldiers also have a link to the regiment they were with so you can find out if relatives also joined the same troop and where that regiment fought. If you have any more questions, just ask!
