There is a Daniel Carlier who dies in 1822 (India Office Family History Search online: Source name:
East India Register 1823-2)

What is the source for the 1829 death ?

Totally off the top of my head I think there was 2 diff deaths- the 1829 one was
in October Palamcottah, India - you should have a copy of the death record
from the IOR returns it was a military one - I'll have a look probably tomorrow
as I have classes tonight - the same year there was also 1 if not 2 Carlier
marriages in Palamcottah.

Sorry I can't be more sure without looking - I remember it because it gave no
age etc and was split over 2 pages so the orig. index must have been large

........... I think Daniel Carlier who married in Palamcottah in 1829 married
Eliz Grace Evans - he died in 1861 - I'm thinking if the 1829 death wasn't in
October it might have been May because I recall less than 6 months between
a marriage & death but what way round I don't know without checking

Is it OK to join in on this?

My take on this. After getting Stephen's info, I am certain that 1829 was the death of Daniel Carlier (Daniel One). The East India Register entry 1822/23 refers to another Daniel - who I'm not yet sure. But it definitely isn't the death of Daniel Two who married Eliza Grace Evans - he died in 1861.

Next week I will go to the British Library and double check the Daniel Carlier death issue. I will check against the Church registers of burials and Muster Lists which carries the Casualty Lists of those soldiers who left a particular regiment by promotion, resignation, retirement or death! I cant wait actually.

I will also post more items such as military records etc

Sorry I forgot to look but there are 2 girls one Elizabeth Evans and the other Elizabeth Grace Evans - Marco you should already have all the BL copies:-

We are all in agreement - Daniel Carlier marries Elizabeth Grace Evans in Palamcottah 10 Oct 1829 - N2 / 11 747

(Sergeant) Daniel Carlier dies Palamcottah 06 May 1829 - N2 / 3 32
My best guess was that this was possibly the Daniel who married Elizabeth Evans in Palamcottah 24.09.1815 - N2 / 5 629 and they had a child called Elizabeth in Palamcottah 14.02.1828 - N2 / 10 209

I also thought that Daniel Carlier who died in 1822 Palamcottah (the EIR entry) could be husband of Mary Marlain as there is a mention somewhere of a death of Mary Carlier widow oof Daniel - off the top of my head I want to say in 1855 and another EIR entry?? - Marco have we discussed this a very long time back??

........ but to be fair is so long since I looked properly and my emails are all on the other computer.
