I seem to have somehow gotten two Riggs (Ryges) trees tangled.
I show two instances of Edward Riggs immigrating to America -
* one Edward I (to emigrate to America) Sr., from Licolnshire,
* one Sgt. Edward (immigrant) Riggs II, from Naezing Essex.
I have two instances of thomas riggs - one for each different immigrant Edward father. They look to be different guys, but they seem to share
* this son Thomas and
* also Elizabeth (2nd wife) Riggs (Holmes).
... in my tree,
Can anyone help me to untangle these?

I should have included a little more info, I guess:

I seem to have somehow gotten two Riggs (Ryges) trees tangled.

I show two instances of Edward Riggs immigrating to America -
* one Edward I (to emigrate to America) Sr., from Licolnshire, to Roxbury, Mass. born Yorkshire, Died Roxbury MA - 1589-1671
* one Sgt. Edward (immigrant) Riggs II, from Naezing Essex. to Roxbury, Mass. Born Naezing, died Newark, NJ 1619-1697 (I think this is correct guy for me - our folks came from Newark)

II seems the reason I now have these two different Edwards is because I have an instance of a son, Thomas Riggs whose profile says that both Edward's are his father. have two instances of thomas riggs - one for each different immigrant Edward father. They profiles look to be different guys, but they seem to share
* Father's name Edward
* also Elizabeth (2nd wife) Riggs (Holmes). First wife is different for the two.

Private User has a project devoted to Edward Riggs and descendants. I pointed out to her last night that there were issues in with this area of the tree. Tammy is very knowledgeable so I left her to sort it out. You might email her, in case she doesn't see this post. Also if you are interested in the family, there is also a project devoted to them that Tammy started.

Thanks for letting us know! I am a descendant of the Roxbury Riggs through one of Edward Sr.'s daughters, Mary Riggs Twitchell.

Private User As I remember there were some merges in this family and Tammy and I discussed who would fix them. I prefer that she do so, if possible, because she has a better background in the various Edward and Elizabeths that people confuse.

This link will take you to a easy to follow tree, starting with Thomas which I have decided to use as a reference guide to all the Edwards and wives. The last time I worked on the Riggs line, and thought I had it straightened out was January. No two people agree on this family, every site has differing info. This one seems to be the nearest to having it straight, as well as I can tell.

The information I was originally working with said Edward Riggs (usually referred to as Sgt.) came to the colonies as a child with his father, also Edward, which would account for 2 immigrant Edwards. But I think there must have been another, which I can't think of the particulars for right off hand. And I have read that some people don't think he had any connection to the other Riggs, although my theory is he's a cousin, somehow.

That's excellent. Thanks Private User I am overloaded (still) but will take a look at Riggs eventually.
