If James the father was born in 1502, then Thomas the son could not have been born in 1490.

David -- I'll take a look at this and am involving Private User in the discussion. We are both direct Riggs descendants.

If you are interested in the Riggs, you may want to look at Tammy's project Edward Riggs of Roxbury, MA and descendants or at the project that Tammy and I work on Early Settlers of Roxbury, Massachusetts

These Riggs predate any I have. The first Riggs I have any info on is Miles (of Roydon) Riggs b.c. 1536. When I clicked on the link for James (Ryges) Riggs, I see this Riggs branch is unconnected to any I've been working with.

I see now- the connection is Joan Pudsy, whom I had wondered where she came from. I haven't been able to find her in my records.

Thank you for taking an interest. I'm just starting to get back into my genealogy research after a hiatus of about 25 years. I found the information about the generations predating Edward of Roxbury very interesting. I was familiar with him from my previous work but never had great confidence in my connection because of birthdates that looked implausble and a lack of information as to how my family got to Maryland in the 1700s if they were part of Edward's family. Some of the entries I found on Geni seem to answer some of these concerns.

If you have any interest in the Riggs Family of Mayland that went to Bedford, PA, New Matamoras, OH and then Indiana (where I am) from the late 1700s onward I have some interesting things including a large stack of letters my GG Grandfather Samuel H. wrote to other family members and an story published in the History of Washington Co Ohio about the 3-year old Basil Riggs encountering Gen. Geo. Washington.

Tammy is the Riggs expert here so I'll let her speak for herself. I would definitely be interested both in the connection between your Riggs and Edward Riggs and in the history of the Riggs in Maryland, Indiana, and Ohio. And I would think this history belongs in the project if your Riggs are Edward Riggs descendants. Again, Tammy has been doing all the work on that branch. I have only followed the Riggs tangentially since my 8th ggmother (I think it's 8th) is Mary Riggs, daughter of Edward of Roxbury.
