There are very few Van A's in Canada in fact only one family, mine! To date, 2011, I have not found any other from our motherland of Belgium. As each of my 4 sisters marry and my fathers family pass away, the phone books of Canada lose another van Aertselaer. There are now 3 left. Though there is my bloodline out there, it is hard to find.
But I've had a son, Sam is almost 3 now, and he is the only son of an only son of an only son of an only son. My grandfather didn't even have a brother!
so, where have all the Van's gone?
