My 4th Great grandfather was a Drury Young. We do not know where he was born or died? He was married to Nancy Madden? Davies? not sure if she had been married before? They had 2 sons Reese D. born 1823, William born 1825. Sometime about 1826 or 1827 he disappeared from Knott co Ky? We do not know if he died or just left? He didn't show up on any Census or tax record in Ky. If U can help us find our Drury or know anything else we would appreciate the help.. A Drury Young was married to a Sophia Hinkle also. Could these Drurys all be the same? Do U have a burial place for Drury.. Cause I feel he might of not died in 1785 since he shows up in several tax records in VA and KY after 1785 and our info says he didn't marry Winnie Palmer till 1789? thank U for listening.. Vicci Young
LifeSketch:
Drury, the son of Thomas and Mary Young, was born in 1752 and christened in 1754 in Albemarle Parish Virginia. Due to boundary changes between when Drury was born and christened, the family may have lived in either Surry or Sussex counties. Either is likely.
Based on the 1820 Census in Tazewell County, Virginia, Drury had one son and six daughters. Two of the daughters were listed as aged 10-15. Since Drury married Sophia Henkle in 1807 their oldest children would have been between 12 and 13 years old. Elizabeth Young was probably the oldest. She has been listed in many sources as being born in 1808, a year after her parents' marriage. She would have been between 12 and 13 at the time of the 1820 census.
It appears that Sophia Henkle died around 1820. Drury then married Nancy Madden. The couple moved to Perry County, Kentucky shortly later. They had two sons born in Kentucky. Drury died in 1828 in Perry County. He was buried in the Young Cemetery in Cordia, Knott County which was part of Perry County in 1820.

They appear to be the same person except for the death date.
